Some of the long-awaited comic book adaptations have been taken to the internet (opened in a new tab) to voice worries about the distorted event-or “stretching”-image format, which makes the characters in certain scenes look elongated and unnatural (see the canopy picture above as case in point).

Netflix has now responded to confusion, clarifying (per variety (open in the new tab)) that the clear aspects ratio of unconventional aspects used throughout Sandman is a deliberate artistic choice intended to emphasize quality such as the dream of the fantasy setting of the creator of Neil Gaiman.

For those who don’t know, the aspect ratio refers to the proportional relationship between the width and height of the image. Usually, the TV series uses a 16: 9 ratio, while the film is often produced in 21: 9-even though the figure varies between filmmakers and mediums (lighthouses, for example, has a ratio of 1,19: 1 which is almost square).

We are not entirely sure what aspects ratio played in Sandman. Although, variety notes that, if vintage lenses are used in their production with more modern cameras, old and new combinations can cause image distortion. However, this series looks exactly as intended by its creator, although there is frustration from certain viewers.

@Netflix_sandman @netflix #tsandman so far extraordinary, but why does everything look so stretched up? Should it be daydreaming and I am only a pig that is not cultured or is there something wrong with my #aspect Ratio? August 5, 2022

After being taken through hell development of large and small screen for more than three decades, The Sandman finally reached Netflix on August 5. Based on the beloved comic series Gaiman with the same name, it tells the story of Dream, one of the seven without end – a group of super human beings who are stronger than the god – who escaped the arrest after 105 years and departed to restore order to his magic kingdom.

Tom Sturridge, David Thewlis, Jenna Coleman and Alumni Game of Thrones Charles Dance and Gwendoline Christie are one of the actors of the performance of the show, and this series is expected to run for several seasons, if the debut episode proved quite popular with the audience.

In our review, we say “Interesting Character Actors, Extensive Universe and Human Themes in” Making it “worthy of the Gaiman Dark Fantasy Comic Book series.” We also talked to the players and the crew of the show to find out how they finally turned on this high concept story.

For the sake of our money, Sandman would be worthy of a follow -up entry, especially considering how many more universe Gaiman has not been explored on the screen (the author writes 10 volumes between 1989 to 1996). And, what with that sitting at the peak of Netflix’s popularity ranking (opening in the new tab) in the first week of release, we anticipate that Streamer feels the same.
